The Center for Innovation and Cyberlaw Research (CICeRo) was formally established at the Institute of State and Law as of 1 January 2023. The goals of this specialized center are to

• explore legal problems and challenges arising in connection with the development of information and communication technologies,

• to deepen knowledge in this field by means of interdisciplinary research, and

• to deepen international cooperation.

The center’s research primarily focuses on legal issues related to the development of artificial intelligence and its applications, robotics, hybrid robotics, brain-computer interfaces, biotechnology and quantum technologies. The research unit formally replaced a similarly designated project operating under the AV21 Strategy in earlier years.
